Camp Hellen State Park, Pt. 1

Hey, y'all! On Saturday the little kielbasa and I went for a nice long walk at our favorite local state park. Just Nola this time, again. I like to give her time away from everyone else, and this was a great opportunity for some training. This was a 2-3 mile walk, and she loved it!

I took a crap ton of photos, so this visit'll be split into two posts.
Speaking of photos, I'm having some slight camera issues. A few weeks ago I noticed my autofocus on my 18-55mm wasn't quite as fast as it used to be, and now it's progressed to where it will have problems focusing on things closer in range, and sometimes I have to manually focus to sort of reset it. It's quite aggravating, as the camera and lens are less than a year old (bought in late May of 2014). This is exactly what happened to my last Nikon, a D3100, and I'm frustrated beyond belief with that. I wound up replacing that one because settings started to fail, but I remember the focusing issue happened first. Not sure if it was connected or if it was just a coincidence. I'm fastidious about the care of my gear, and it's pissing me off to be dealing with problems so soon. If you've experienced this or have any ideas, please let me know!

Back to the happy stuff now! We saw a stunning bald eagle at the park. There's quite a few in my area, so it's not a rarity, but I always get a rush out of seeing those beautiful birds. It was windy and cool, but clear skied and sunny. Perfect walking day!

PS: Yes, in yesterday's photo B is standing on a mirror. :)

Didn't see any form of markers, but it was interesting and eerie all the same!

Our state is beautiful!

  1. Looks like lots of fun!!!! After all this snow we've had I'm anxious to get back to hiking. BTW ... love the leash you have. Do you mind sharing where you got it?

  2. What a beautiful place. Nothing better than your beautiful photos

  3. What a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Looks like a great place to take a crap ton of photos. You should still be under warranty with Nikon. I know you have to either find a Nikon authorized store, or send it to them. That would be frustrating. )-:

  5. Try cleaning the connection between the lens and camera with a cue tip with rubbing alcohol on it. Since you take your camera a lot of places like the beach that aren't very clean, the autofocus could be being messed up by grit or grime.

  6. Wow! That park looks amazing! Nola looks like she's having a blast! <3 I hope your get your camera issue fixed! That sucks! Maybe it's still under warranty and they can send you a new lens?

  7. What wonderful photos! Sorry, I just have a camera phone - can't help you with your Nikon issues. I can see how that would be annoying though!

Love Nola's ear flip in the last photo. She's so gorgeous!

  8. A long walk in a beautiful place with just a dog and a camera - perfect combination! Love it!
