As of this post (I'm writing this on Thursday night), I have yet to hear back from Nikon's customer service. I've dealt with them before, and while I got a fairly speedy response it was very rude and unhelpful. Grrr....
Depending on if Nikon can/will do anything about it, I'm pretty much certain I'm going to have to replace my current D3100. Since cameras aren't cheap, I've decided I'm just going to use my D3100 (only setting it's working in is auto/no flash) and save up for a new camera. I think I'm going to stay with Nikon; after many questions and much poking around, I think the issue with my camera is just a fluke, and Nikon's durability beats Canon. I also much prefer the feel of Nikon in my hands vs. Canon. The Nikon vs. Canon debate is one of the hottest debates among the photography community, and I think I've picked my side.
The fun part in all this mess is looking at different cameras. I'm debating between the D3100, the D3200 and the D5100. If anyone has any experience with the D3200 or D5100, please let me know in a comment!
Another cool thing is Sam's Club currently has a pretty good deal on the D3100; you get the camera body, 18-55mm lens, 55-200mm lens, battery, charger, memory chip, instructional DVD (which I don't need) and a carrying bag for $600.
Now that that's over, here's the photo challenge! Sadly, all were taken in auto, and not by my choice. :( Which of these is your favorite, and why?

They're not the cutest PJ's, but they're seriously comfy! Excuse Nola's tail and leg.
Day 3: This is really good!
Both the photo and the subject ;)
Day 4: In my cup
Day 5: Paper
Day 6: Broken
