Training Goals for February Update
Hi, all! I'm doing great in my training goals! Figured I'd show you some of my training when it was "in progress", so you can get the full effect when I show you my finished videos next Monday. Here you go:
Back Up:
If you can't see the video, view it here
Stop!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrKU2yS12Gs
Pick it up/hold it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgRhwsueD-c
Mom kind of shoved pick it up/hold it on the back burner for most of the month, and we're scrambling to get it down before I show y'all on Monday! In the video you're mostly seeing the pick it up aspect of it, as Mom's teaching pick it up and hold it as separate behaviors at first.
Now I need your ideas! I need 1 more cue to learn for March's challenge, and I want some feedback. What I will be doing:
Cover your eyes/shame!
Balance on a yoga ball
Take a bow
Fading out the yogurt lid on my shut a door trick
The cues I already know:
sit
down
stay
come
up
off
leave it
over
high five
fist bump
shake hands
spin (counterclockwise)
let's go (basically a loose heel on either side)
bang
move your ass
bedtime (go under the covers)
which hand?
go find!
where's your ball?
touch (both hand and an object)
give kisses
look here/focus
Only requirement is no sit pretty/beg type tricks, as they're very stressful on Dachshund backs.
Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola

More New Additions!
And said I'd show you what new animal we're bottle feeding in today's post. So here goes!
You wanna know? (insert girly squeal at my epic cuteness) |
TWIN GOAT BABIES!!!! They're 8 day old (they were 5 days when we got them) LaMancha x Boer doelings (girl babies) named Violet (black and white) and Vinca (white and cream).
They're very sweet, and follow the peeps around when they're in the goat pen. They eat about 5-6 bottles of milk a day, each.
Since we will hopefully sell Tulip and her twins today, we got these two girls to add to Daisy and any girl babies Daisy might have. Aren't they precious!
And since this blog is called Dachshund Nola and not Animal Hoarders: Goat Edition, here's a picture of beautiful ME to brighten your day.
One of my nicknames is "Buggy Buggy Big Ears". I'm not sure why. |
Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola

Daisy meets the twins |
We (R to L: me, Auggie, Boston, Phoenix) meet Vinca. |

Vinca again |

Then 5 day old Vinca next to 2 week old Clover |
"What is this strange creature that has invaded my inner sanctum, and stolen my paparazzi?" |
"Yeah, that's right Mom. Feel bad when you see this face, that's right. Look into my big, sad brown eyes, there you go....." |
Success! |

February Photo Challenge: Week 3
Hi, all! Dachshund Mommy here with week 3 of the February Photo A Day Challenge, and I'll be answering a few questions.
Y'all asked a few questions about our little farm on yesterday's post, so here's the answer!
"Your neighbors are very tolerant! Does it get noisy?"
Since the goat pen (all pens, actually) are kept very clean, there's no issue with smell. Our goats are also of a breed that is very quiet, so there's no issue with noise, either. Heck, the Doxie Mafia is louder than the goats. :D
(about the twins and mama goat)
"Weren't you going to keep one of the twins?"
We were, but the girl twin's (the only one we were interested in keeping) personality is utterly horrendous. Just like her mother's. And since the boy is a "nutter", obviously, he's useless to us. ;)
"What do you do with all those eggs everyday?"
We cook and bake a lot, so we use eggs there. We eat lots of scrambled eggs/egg sandwiches ect, and of course the dogs get eggs a lot. (Nola's become quite good about opening the eggs). We're also going to start selling eggs at the local farmer's market once it opens.
Hope that cleared some stuff up! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! I love answering y'all.
On the the photos! Which of these is your favorite, and why?
Hugs,
Dachshund Mommy
