Power of The Paw for Our Neighbor

Hi everyone! I need to ask you all to please crossed your paws and think good thoughts or say a prayer for our neighbors. This lovely older couple has been though so much, and they need our comforting vibes. The husband (B) has the evil C monster, and he's fighting very hard. But the outlook is...bleak. He could use some words of comfort and so could his wife (E).
So if you could please leave a comment below for these sweet people, or send an email to, it'd mean a lot. We're going to print out comments and emails and take them to B and E so they can feel the comfort of Blogville surrounding them.
Thank you, my amazing furiends.

A Pupdate and My Canine Behavior Type Results

Hi everyone! It's ME! Here's a pupdate for everyone. Phoenix will be coming home in two, two, more weeks! OMD that's so exciting!

I was reading the Roayl Coonhounds' Blog yesterday and in one of their posts they mentioned a Canine Behavior Type Index game. I though, why not? So I took the tests and my results were:

ME, in the below mentioned 102 heat. I'm even drooling a bit!

Your Canine Behavior Type Index is

SBH - Adventurer

Your dog is a Spontaneous, Beta and High Activity type which we call the Adventurer. The Adventurer regularly challenges the social order, routine and environmental orderliness. It constantly searches for new social and environmental standards. It is highly competitive with plenty of energy and a playful spirit but not great at group activities.
Hm. I do have a pretty high activity level (when it's not 102 freaking degrees out, as it was yesterday), I have a playful spirt, not great at group actives, I'm pretty spontaneous and I'm competitive. So yeah, I'd say it was fairly accurate!
How would you define your personality?

Blog The Change

Hi everyone! Dachshund Mommy here. Today, July 23rd, is Blog The Change for animals. What exactly is that mean? Today is one of four a year were bloggers
unite to spread the word about animals in shelters and promote adoption.

If you're intested in helping, here are just a few ways you can make a difference:
  • Adopt an animal
  • Volunteer
  • Donate, either money or supplies
  • Promote spay and neuter
  • Spread the word about adoptable animals in your community

Yesterday I volunteered for the first time at our local humane society, and I've never done something so exhausting (physically and emotionally) and at the same time so  rewarding. I spent two hours cleaning, walking dogs, filling water bowls, poop scooping and playing with the dogs. I made a friend in a gorgeous little Australian Shepherd mix, he was just so sweet. I wanted to take him home!
I'm very happy to be working in a place that is no kill, but at the same time the reality of a no kill shelter really is slapped me in the face. There are dogs there that have been waiting for their forever homes months, years even. There's a pit/lab mix who's been there for three years, and just recently got adopted. Several others have been there for a year or two as well.
It's a hard thing to do, but I'm more the glad to be doing it.

To close this post, here's two adorable and adoptable dogs. One is available through Bay County Humane Society and the other is available through Florida Dachshund Rescue. Fingers crossed these babies find their forever homes!

Guiness is a beautiful 5 month old Australian Shepherd mix who is very friendly and as gentle as they come.  He was kept chained in his backyard and has already had two homes in his short, little life so becoming a part of a forever family would make him happier than can be imagined.  We are pretty sure he dreams of cuddling up next to his person on the sofa and chasing balls in the dog park, so if you can give this beautiful dog the home he deserves, come meet him today!

Hi! My name is Lady Kingston, and the best way to describe me is a 7 pound ball of boundless energy. I LOVE to play, not so much with toys but with you. I run everywhere I go. Walking isn’t in my vocabulary. However, I love to go on “walks”, but because I am so small it’s actually more of a run. I am such a high jumper! So you really have to watch me, because I will jump on and off the highest surfaces, which could hurt my little stubs and back.
I am super smart, and learn quickly, like lightening. I learned to use my doggie steps in a few minutes. You just have to keep moving them for me, and I will use them. I get my kicks out of giving kisses, laying on your lap, or just being beside you. I simply adore sleeping in the human bed, cuddled up with you, but if you prefer, I also don’t mind my own bed.
I am completely house-broken, UTD on vaccines, had a dental and am completely healthy. I will go to my crate on command, though I do just fine outside of it. I do have a fear of men. My foster mom is working on building my trust with them and I am quickly making great strides. So, if there is a man in my new home, I just need him to be very patient and understanding with me. I love other dogs; I currently live with four big ones. I don’t think I’ve had encounters with cats, but they may be ok. I have not lived with children and my foster mom thinks I would NOT do well around young children.
If you want to love me, like I do you, and you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster mom at She will answer any other questions you may have about me. I can’t wait to be in my forever home, and most of all I can’t wait to me you!

Food Day and Introducing....

Hi everyone! I've been meaning to tell y'all a big thanks from my Sweetie for all the birthday wishes. She loved them!
I have some very exciting news!!!! We decided on a name for my new sister! It's....

According to, the word Phoenix means:
1. a mythical bird of great beauty fabled to live 500 or 600 years in the Arabian wilderness, to burn itself on funeral pyre, and to rise from its ashes in the freshness of youth and live through another cycle of years: often an emblem of immortality or of reborn idealism or hope.

We firmly believe that Angel Charlotte will live on inside Phoenix, and picked this name to represent that. I want to say a massive thanks to Nicole of All The Small Stuff for suggesting this name. Thank you, All The Small Stuff!

Second, I realized I haven't shared a food day with you in awhile! For anyone who's new here, I have allergies to corn and soy so Mom makes my food. More info can be found under the page titled Food Fit For A Princess.
This week's food has:

5-6 cups cooked chicken
4 cups of raw oats
2 cups pineapple (Auggie is a recovering poop addict)
4 celery sticks, cut small
5 carrots, grated
1 can of chick peas
1 can of white kidney beans
3 TBS ground flaxseed
2 TBS parsley
2 TBS ground eggshell

Yummy! Here's how much food we get a day:

ME, 9lbs: 2/3 to 1 cup
Auggie, around 13lbs: 2 cups
Boston, 15lbs: 2 cups

Plus treats and scraps throughout the day, of course.

Sometimes, I steal my brother's food.

Who wants to come for dinner? BOL!

Dachshund Nola Reviews: Instinct Raw Boost Bites

Okay I have posed. Where's my treat?
Hi everyone! I have a pawsome review for Mr. Chewy to share with you all today. I'm furry excited to be reviewing Nature's Variety Raw Boost Bites in both venison and chicken formula. According to Mr., Raw Boost Bites are "a pure and healthy treat made from minimally processed, freeze-dried ingredients. Each delicious piece provides the benefits of raw in an energizing and highly palatable bite sized treat".  And guess what? These treats are 100% grain free and are proudly made in the USA.
I absolutely loved these treats! Dachshund Mommy: I've never seen Nola go so crazy for a treat. Ever. And the ingredients are just stellar!

Ingredients for Raw Boost Bites Venison Formula:
Venison, lamb heart, lamb liver, pumpkinseeds, apples, carrots, ground lamb bone, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, montmorillonite clay (a natural purifier), broccoli, lettuce, spinach, dried kelp, apple cider vinegar, parsley, honey, salmon oil, olive oil, blueberries, alfalfa sprouts, persimmons, inulin, rosemary, sage, clove.

Ingredients for Raw Boost Bites Chicken Formula:
Chicken, turkey, turkey liver, turkey heart, pumpkinseeds, apples, carrots, ground chicken bones, montmorillonite clay, broccoli, lettuce, spinach, dried kelp, apple cider    vinegar, parsley, honey, salmon oil, mixed tocopherols with citric acid (a natural preservative), rosemary, blueberries, alfalfa sprouts, persimmons, inulin, sage, clove.

Very impressive! Great for pups (or kitties! Both can eat these) on grain free diets or with food allergies like yours truly.

Made in the USA
Stellar ingredients
Allergy friendly
All natural
Grain free
Resealable package
Smells good (to me)
Gives a boost of energy
Light weight if you were out and about and needed a snack

Too big to feed whole to a dog my size
Dachshund Mommy: They have a very strong smell
Price is kind of high for the amount you get (roughly $10 for 4oz)

All in all, I give these treats 4 paws up and the Doxie seal of approval! I highly recommend these treats to anyone, especially fellow allergy pups.
If you order from Mr. Chewy, use the promo code NOLA6729 get 10% off your order.
Thank you, Mr. Chewy for letting me review this yummy treat!
Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola
It's from Chewy!

Must I do all the work?

She asked for it

Way too big to feed to a dog my size. I get like a quarter of this.

Must. Resist.

I liked the venison better

What, you were trying to take a picture of just the treats? Oops.

Group shots are impossible around here.

Do I have something on my nose?
