It's no secret that I am diligent about my dogs' nutrition. From researching brands and formulas, checking protein and fat contents, and exploring company ethics, I'm alls bout providing my guys with food that works for them. It's always a huge bonus when food is easy on the budget and easily accessible, too! That's why I'm eager to share our second post to check in on how Miss Nola is doing on the Wellness® Core® line of dog food! If you missed the first one, you can check it out here.
Grain free is a more biologically appropriate way to feed our dogs (and cats, too!), and Wellness is committed to better nutrition. In addition to the Core line, they've reinvented their Complete Health™ line to be grain free, as well. This is great news for pet owners looking for a budget friendly, easy to find food without sacrificing quality! They offer a wide array of different types and flavors for every dog. Wellness is readily available at most pet stores, including PetSmart. So convenient!

What Does Nola Think?
|"What do I think? I think you should open it. And get a bowl. A feed me. Just a suggestion."|
Nola has been on Wellness since April, and I'm here to give an update on her progress. She has always done better on foods with more protein, and with Wellness Core Small Breed being around 37% protein, it fits well within her needs. I'm happy to report that both Nola and I have nothing but praise for Wellness Core!
Her energy levels have remained normal (for her, that's high!), and she's eager for walks and play. In preparation for all the walking we'll be doing in Europe this fall, I've doubled her walking time, and she's loved it. No problem keeping up for her!
Her coat is sleek and shining, with her usual nearly non-exsistant shedding. Her poop has been normal, with no gas or other unsavory stomach issues. Always a relief! ;)
|Sorry these are grainy! I had to have my ISO up insanely high, it was so dark inside.|
One thing I'm happy to report on this food is how easily it absorbs water. Since Nola had her tooth out, she hasn't eaten hard kibble, so I appreciate that it was a pretty quick process to soak and moisten the Wellness. It's been a great way to gently transition her back to dry food, making sure she isn't showing any signs of discomfort. Wellness was also a huge help in the few days before and after she had the tooth out: their grain free Wellness Petites Entrees Mini were the perfect food! Soft, tasty, and perfectly portioned.
Her mouth is doing great, by the way! It's not bothering her at all anymore, and she's back to wanting to chew and tug like normal.
It's still (apparently) a very tasty food, something Nola happily works for. There's not much smell to it, so it's easy to drop a handful into your pocket for any impromptu training sessions without your scent loudly proclaiming "I'm dog training!!".
Overall, I'm very pleased with Wellness! Nola tested, and Nola approved. ;)
