Beach Day!

I never got around to posting our mid-October beach day, so here it is! It wasn't a long stay, as there was a nasty case of red tide that caused hundreds and hundreds of dead fish to wash up on shore. The stench was unimaginable, and the flies unbearable. Nola's recall and leave it are stellar, as she demonstrated by leaving the mess alone. :D We did a quick 3mile walk, then we left!

There were piles and piles of dead fish all along the little sand banks.

The flies were awful for her!

That stuff to the left? Dead fish.

  3. Can't get over your sand, looks so white and clean. We get lots of little crabs washed up on our beach sometimes, or sometimes jellyfish.

  7. I am glad Nola has such great recall - Blueberry would have done her best to roll on every single fish. Yuck! Beautiful pictures - hard to believe it was smelly and chock full of flies!

  8. Good girl, Nola! Your beach is beautiful despite the dead fish! We are experiencing something similar on our coast, too! They are calling it the Red Blob, though! Poor fish!

  11. Oh ewwie to those dead fish! We just got back from a trip to the NJ shore, and it's quite normal to see the carcasses of horseshoe crabs on the beach (thankfully they don't smell at all) but I've not seen any dead fish like that. I don't want to imagine the stink! Thank goodness for a real good 'leave it!'.

  12. Dear Nola,

I LOVE the Beach! Did you roll in stinky things? Eat any dead crabs or fish! Run really fast?

Oh, the Beach is amazing! And you look very beautiful there, I think you should go again soon!

  14. She looked like a very happy trooper, despite the dead fish ;-) ...although that probably bothered you more than it did her...

  16. Such adorable pics of Nola. And you should be proud of her. I don't know if I could convince Honey not to roll in dead fish for all the liverwurst in Germany. :)

What beach is this? As we're sailing south, I'm starting to read up on Florida so I can find a nice place to land for a while.

  17. What causes all of the dead fish? I can imagine that was a real stinky outing. My two would have tried to roll in the fish because, stink is a good thing! Haha!

  18. Aside from those poor dead fish, what a gorgeous beach! I would love to go to a place like that! I wonder why all the dead fish though? What would have caused hat?
