Guest Post: Pet Insurance for Dachshunds

This is a guest post that I am being compensated for.

Pet Insurance for Dachshunds? Yep!

If you're an astute Dachshund parent or fan (which we know you are because you're here!) the you know Dachshunds are susceptible to potential hereditary disorders including inter-vertebral disc disease, heart issues and stomach bloat.

And if you've ever had the unfortunate experience of visiting a veterinary hospital you know that treating these issues is NOT cheap!

One solution to combat unexpected vet bills is pet health insurance. In a nutshell it covers up to 90% of veterinary treatment for hereditary disorders, accidents and illnesses.

It's not for everyone, but if you consider your Wiener part of the family (again, if you're here, you probably do) then take some time to learn about pet insurance plans for pet insurance for Dachshunds and see if it's something that might benefit your family.

  1. Yes Jet came with Pet Insurance as a baby and we have kept him on it and added Milo onto it as well. It's really proved invaluable especially after Jet decided a peeper shaker lid was worth eating. Milo & Jet's human Ros

  2. No, I looked into it and for the cost of it, I don't think it is for us. I have been depositing $50.00 a month is a special savings account for emergency's. I had two pretty big expenses, Mast cell tumor surgery for one Doxie and cracked molars removed for the other (I have 2) and I was able to pay for that without touching my emergency fund.

  5. I actually just revisited this decision. At this time we don't have pet insurance. The company our vet prefers is rather pricey. So I'm still thinking it over.

  6. I'm a huge believer in pet insurance and will never go without it. I was able to save Boca's eye and was reimbursed for most of a $3k surgery. It just makes cost-benefit sense to me.
