Feeding Raw

We are on day 3 of raw feeding. :) The dogs love it, and *fervently knocks on wood* there's been no issues. I'm doing more of a prey model diet vs. the BARF diet at this point, although that might change. They're only getting non-organ chicken meat for the first two weeks to make the transition as easy as possible, and once we've gotten past that I will slowly start adding in organs and different meats.
Nola is being switched from a home cooked diet, and Pike is being switched from Orijen Puppy. They're getting about 4oz and 5oz a day, respectively. They're fed in a crate, and once they're done the crate and bowl are bleached out. So far they've had chicken wings, chicken backs, and today's menu consists of chicken legs along with a few chunks of breast meat to disguise their heartworm pills.

WARNING: Raw meat photos ahead. A little gross, but so are so many aspects of dog owning. ;)

  6. Momma has been debating recently on taking baby steps on raw...kinda of. The cheater freeze-dried and add water type.

  7. Koira does so well on raw compared to kibble or home cooked. I hope your dogs do as well.

I would say that I'd personally worry about putting bleach on the thing the dogs are eating off of so often. I use baby wipes to wipe down crates after meals for the most part, and only use the harsher chemicals once a week or so.
