A Pike Update

Hi, everyone! Here's an update on the Merle Moron. I have to say, I kinda love him. He's a wonderful playmate, a perfect snuggle buddy, and worships the ground I walk on, just like a proper groupie should! He turned 14 weeks old on Friday, and as of yesterday we've had him 3 weeks.

House training is going wonderfully. He's totally mastered sit in any situation, with or without reward. Recall is going great. Focus is great, albeit short. He's quite clingy with both me and Mom, but he's cute, so I guess it's okay.
He's growing like a weed! He's in an awkward stage where all his parts look wrong for his body, but underneath the weird you can see him turning into a nice looking dog. His puppy coat is shedding a bit, and his legs are getting long. His nose is now almost totally black (DM: insert epic sadness :( ), and his copper trim is getting darker and bigger. His merling is also growing more contrasting.

He needs SO much grooming! For as big a diva as I am, I require no primping. BoyPuppy gets brushed every night, gets his fur trimmed (feet, legs, butt) weekly, 2x weekly nail trimming (okay, I get that, too), nightly teeth brushing (ditto), and gets a bath every other day. Everything sticks to his fur, plus he throughly enjoys rolling in - and eating - chicken shit. Oy. Idiot.
Speaking of which, he's started herding the chickens a bit. It's hilarious to watch!

So you can see how his merle is different on both sides.

Recall

I'll give you one guess as to why he's called the Merle Moron.

His ears have been all over the place. One day they're prick, one day drop, the next day rose.

DM: she's pretty protective of him. Not in an aggressive way, at all, just very watchful.

  9. He is growing like a weed! Aww! I love his black hind leg, so cute. Actually, he's just so cute in general.

Petal's ears were all over the place as well when she was a puppy. Then one day they stood straight up and stayed that way.

I love these pictures of you two! You guys are a wonderful pair. So sweet and so adorable! You're teaching him well, Miss Nola. ;)
