Everyone, Meet....

Pike, formally AK's The Watchman!

That's right! My brother's/minion's name is Pike. Named after Joe Pike from Robert Crais' Elvis Cole and Joe Pike novels, it fits him perfectly.

DM: I am so, so happy to have Pike in the family. He is everything I could ever ask for in a puppy for both myself and Nola. He's smart, quiet, easy going, playful, happy and just a great boy. He's very smart and eager for attention and approval.
Nola's laid down the rules, and he fully respects her as the boss. That didn't stop them from playing and running zoomies around the bedroom for over an hour last night! Nola's getting along incredibly well with him; they sleep on the bed together, go in each other's crates both together and alone, play, chew toys next to each other, ect. Nola is helping me teach him, and it's obvious that Pike absolutely adores Nola. I couldn't be happier with how the new addition has turned out. Today we're heading out to my parents' land, and I can't wait to see how Nola and Pike enjoy their first adventure together.

Below are two (crappy, shaky iPhone videos) of Nola and Pike. In the first, they're being crazy and playing. The second is Pike's first training session after being introduced to the clicker. Nola taught him to sit, and in the video I'm just reinforcing it.

Kisses and Tail Wags and Hugs,
Dachshund Nola and Dachshund Mommy (and Pike, too!)

  4. What a cutie he is. Torreys nose was pink and black just like that. They are so smart and easy to train, you and Nola will have him trained in no time. If you need grooming tips, let me know. That thick coat can be a challenge, especially in the heat.
