Wordless Wednesday: Brining Home The Bacon

This is our new pig (she's just laying there, even though she looks dead ;)), Pig Pig. She's about 12 weeks old now (8 weeks in this pic). She isn't a pet, if get my drift. Bacon!

  1. Who needs store bought Beggin' Strips when you can have the real thing! What time should we come for breakfast??

  2. I don't think I could ever interact with pigs and keep eating ham and bacon and pork....I'm just too much of a wimp. And I love bacon and ham and pork so much. I made a ham on Monday, in fact, and today the bone and rind is in the crockpot with some navy beans.

  5. Awesome! I have strongly considered buying a young feeder pig to grow out till fall. It is actually quite economical to do so, according to what I have read, and you know exactly what is going in to the meat, and that it was treated well and with respect. Maybe next spring.

  6. I couldn't do it! If I raised the pig, I could not eat the pig! But I do eat meat so I am a bit of a hypocrite.

Rose here. My Mama loves pigs--wait--did you say "bacon"?! Where?! When?! How?! I want some!! My Mama has a dog biscuit recipe that calls for bacon in one of her cookbooks. She has yet to make it for me.... ;op

    1. Forgot to mention that I just love Nola's expression and tail wag in this picture, something about it just made me giggle. It's like she's asking, "I get some of this bacon too, right?"

  11. Cool piggie!! Yeah, Ma's wouldn't be able to 'clean it' if you know what I mean! She's got a weak stomach when it comes to that!
