Dachshund Nola Reviews: Marlon Brand Leather

Hey, everyone! Today I'm reviewing Marlon Brand Leather, an Etsy shop that makes leather dog collars (buckle, tag and martingale), leashes and peep stuff including leather cuffs and bracelets. Here's a little about them:

After 10 years of companionship, we lost our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to congestive heart failure. He was a great muse and world traveler, and our home felt empty without him. We adopted a Boston Terrier puppy to fill the void. As our new Boston boy grew, we wanted to find great accessories for him. We couldn't find a theme or serious design behind most of the products we looked at. There were quality collars out there--and we didn't mind spending more--but we couldn't find something to suit our style at online shops and pet stores.

One day, Toshiko said, "can we make a nice collar for him?" We were determined to use our art, experiences and skills to make something beautiful that people would enjoy looking at.

On March 11, 2011, a huge 9.2 earthquake hit the Tohoku region of Japan and the subsequent tsunami & nuclear disaster tore our lives apart. We lost two family members, as well as the Yuriage home where Toshiko grew up. Some of our friends in Fukushima and coastal Sendai were forced to evacuate--their homes & businesses were swept away or closed forever. It was important to find something positive to focus on, and as a result, our Etsy shop was born.

We strive to produce fine leather goods that are durable and unique. Our styles reflect our Southern California lifestyle and experiences; you'll find bohemian, southwestern, beach & surf, rustic and even gothic influences in our pieces. We truly hope you enjoy our designs and the visual and tactile stories behind each piece.

I was sent their Valentine Leather Collar in blue to review. It's a 1" wide buckle with a blingy heart concho, scroll rivets and tan leather lacing. It comes in blue, pink, white, and rose crocodile (a dusty pink color). It comes in four standard sizes (S, M, L, XL), although they do make custom sizes as well as custom widths. The leather isn't too terribly thick and the buckle is pretty lightweight, so the 1" width is just fine on my 10.5lb self.

PROS:
Soft leather
Lots of options
On taget prices
Pretty
Lightweight but sturdy

CONS:
I'd like to see a wider variety of styles; everything is Western themed
Leather stretches a bit

    4.5 stars.

Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola

  2. Great review. I think it's actually kind of refreshing to see these collars, so many of the leather collar companies collars look similar.
