Thank you all for the wonderful advice on possibly doing therapy work with Nola! I've been emailing back and forth with on of the nursing homes in our city, and I'm going to call them tomorrow to try and work out a time to take Nola to visit. An aptitude test, if you will. If it works out, this will be Nola's first experience with something like this, so I'm interested in gauging her response to the challenge.
EDIT: Nola goes in next week to see the residents!
Therapy work is something I really want to do with Miss Nola. I think it would be such a rewarding experience for the both of us.
Now to totally get ahead of myself, there seems to be two major therapy dog organizations, TDI (Therapy Dogs International) and Delta/Pet Partners. I've read conflicting info on the two. Which do you prefer, and why? From what I've seen, Delta requires retesting every 2 years and can be a more difficult test. Delta is also what our local therapy dog group is under. With TDI, your dog gets their therapy dog status as a title, much like the CGC. Admittedly. I really like that about them.
So, your thoughts please!
