Dachshund Nola Reviews: Zuke's Mini Naturals and GIVEAWAY

Hi, y'all! I'm super excited to be doing a review and a GIVEAWAY for my favorite treat company ever, Zuke's! I know lots of my furiends are big fans of Zuke's too, which is why I'm so happy to be hosting a giveaway for four, you read that right, four, bags of of Zuke's Mini Naturals (one of every flavor!) to one lucky winner.

     Here's a bit about Zuke's:

Anyone who’s experienced an aha! moment can usually recollect with giddy excitement the exact date, time and place that the proverbial light bulb went off. And often, that flash in time is the inception of a great idea. For Patrick Meiering, it was 1995 during a hike in the Colorado Mountains with his typically energetic companion, Zuke. Noticing that Zuke had become exhausted, Patrick broke off a piece of his energy bar and tossed it to him. Zuke perked right up. And there it was, the moment Patrick realized that pets need healthy, all-natural treats, just as much as people do.

The Zuke’s adventure begins
From the beginning, it has been essential that Zuke’s treats are formulated with only natural ingredients providing the specific nutrients your cat or dog needs. But early on, our fledgling team realized Zuke’s was about much more than healthy treats. Instead, we consciously created a company focused on exploring and adventuring with your dog. About the love you get from your cat. And the pursuit of a healthier life that makes pets and people happier. This is what motivated us then, and what motivates us today. Zuke’s wants to keep the adventure going by giving our pets something to wag about.

A commitment to caring
Come to the Zuke’s office and you’ll see dogs curled up under a workstation or bounding in our backyard creek, and we love to go home to our cats snuggled in on the couch. We’re passionate pet lovers just like you. Our pets are a great source of motivation and give us so much, so it’s only natural that we want to give them the best. That means the finest meats, premium grains, fruits, vegetables and oils available. All natural ingredients, all sourced in the USA (except our rabbit and venison which come from New Zealand), with final products made in the USA . The commitment to our products stems from the love and care we have not just for our own pets, but for dogs and cats everywhere.

As Zuke’s grows, it’s more important than ever that we remain true to our original intentions – to ensure that the passion we have for our pets shapes the products we make, the company we continue to become, and world we live in.

     Zuke's makes the following treats:

I was sent all four flavors (Chicken, Salmon, Rabbit and Peanut Butter) to review. Mom seems to have some kind of dog treat (and collar) addiction, and she's always buying new different brands of treats, but we almost never buy the same thing twice. The exception to that is Zuke's Mini Naturals. They are my favorite commercial treat (my favorite treat is hotdog) ever, and are very high value. Not to mention they're only 3 1/2 calories per treat! Mom usually breaks them into halves or even fourths during training. Rabbit and Salmon are my favorite flavors.
The ingredients are also stellar! Check em out (this is the salmon variety):

Salmon, Ground Rice, Ground Barley, Malted Barley, Gelatin, Vegetable Glycerin, Tapioca, Natural Flavors, Cherries, Sunflower Oil, Lecithin, Salt, Phosphoric Acid, Rosemary, Turmeric, Sorbic Acid (a preservative), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Mixed Tocopherols.

Zuke's also donates to the Dog & Cat Cancer Fund, a program that helps needy families get treatment for their animals suffering from cancer, offering grants to help scientists conduct research and raising awareness about this horrible disease.

Yes, Mom spelled it out in treats. No, I didn't get them all. Pfft, stupid diet.

PROS:
Great ingredients
Great company
Made in USA
Great customer service
Lots of products for both dogs and cats
Tasty!
Only 3.5 calories per Mini
Donates to Dog & Cat Cancer Fund
Resealable bag
Perfect size
Treats have a smell, but not a strong one (not even the salmon flavor)
Great for allergy pups like me
High value
Soft
Great price for quality and amount

CONS:
They do get a little crunchy if you're like Mom and you tend to leave treats in your pockets all day, but that's hardly a con!

Overall, I give Zuke's and Zuke's Mini Naturals my highest rating of 5/5 stars and 2 paws up! I would recommend them to all my furiends. You can find them on Zuke's website, in pet stores and on Amazon for about $6.

GIVEAWAY DETAILS:

Zuke's very generously offered one of y'all one bag of each flavor (so four bags). All you have to do is comment below telling me your best trick (you will not be entered into the giveaway if you don't comment on this), and leave you email address if you don't have it available on your blog. Sorry, this giveaway is only open to US residents.

EXTRA entries: If you go and like Zuke's on Facebook here or follow them on Twitter here, you'll get an extra entry. Just leave a comment telling that you liked or followed! Good luck!

Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola

  4. Our best trick is getting WHN to take us in the car with her! Our next best trick, especially for Snoopy, is to jump on WHN and have loads of king of sling time, like right now!

  5. Pallo's best trick is closing the door. I use it all the time so that I can leave the door to the yard open for the dogs to go in and out, but be able to ask Pallo to go close the door without me having to stop what I'm doing if it starts getting dark at night or windy or anything.

  7. My best trick so far is swimming, I just learned and it's amazing! Love- Wyatt the black lab

  8. Shiloh (Sheltie) has lots of tricks- beyond the basic shake, dance, take a bow, play dead, etc... I think his best tricks are putting his toys away, and bowling- I set up toy bowling pins at one end of the room, and a ball at the other. He pushes the ball with his nose across the room to knock down the pins!
He loves learning new tricks (almost as much as he loves agility!) and we've just recently discovered Zuke's treats. They've quickly become our favorite training treats, so I'd love to win- it's hard to stay stocked up on them! LyricInTime2803 @ yahoo . com

  15. We loooove all of Zuke's treats, but especially the Mini Naturals, they're awesome for training!! Thank goodness we follow Zuke's on FB and Twitter, or we'd never have come across your blog!! Both of my pups are pretty awesome, and know LOTS of great tricks! Emmy (my yellow lab) can fetch drinks from the fridge (or coolers) which includes opening and shutting the door! Viva (my mini aussie) will bring me a tissue when I sneeze! (Emmy does that one too lol) They also know shake, other, high five, other side, play dead (Viva knows how to stick 'em up and then plays dead on 'bang bang'), roll over, roll back, sit up, spin circles, bow, 'pretty girl' (cross paws on command), put the toys away, Viva speaks, Emmy can do math, figure 8's between my legs and weaving while walking, and a bunch of others I'm forgetting LOL They LOVE learning new things, especially when they get Zuke's at the end!

  17. Hi Nola!
Although wesa do not have your repertoire in tricks and training, wesa do loves treats and so we will tell you that wesa do have manners (sometimes) and sit for our treats. I know...not really a trick...but itsa the best we got. Wesa all went to puppy school and it seems that the sit is about all we got out of it. :)

  28. Chester and Gretel LOVE Zuke's. If they were going to do any treats, it would be for them. Unfortunately I am a lazy Mama and have not taught them any tricks. My Ex taught Chester how to roll over so he still pulls that one out if I make him wait too long for a treat. Gretel" "trick" is to stare blankly pas the treat so she is not tempted to eat it before I tell her she can :)

I double checked and I already like Zuke's on Facebook. My contact is on my blog and you already have my email :)

  34. Austin and Li'l Girl LOVE Zuke's Mini Naturals, but have only tried the chicken and the salmon flavors.
Tricks? Ha! The humans do tricks for us, not the other way around.
Austin's only trick is sucking in his stomach when he comes into the kitchen. I swear he tries to look extra skinny so I'll give him something. Li'l Girl has no tricks. She's the boss. Bosses don't do tricks.
Nola... that last picture kills me! You're SO good! A treat barely hits the floor around here. There's no way I could line them up like that without them being devoured in a flash!
I already have Zuke's Liked on Facebook and Followed on Twitter.

  35. Rockwell's best trick so far is to rollover and give you a high five. He's a basset hound so to get leg that high is pretty good! Working on getting his own leash ;-)

  36. Good job Nola, resisting all those treats!!

Buddy's only tricks are Give Paw and Spin. The Spin seems to impress people the most!

  45. You lucky dog, Nola! We love Zuke's and would love to be entered into your giveaway. Petal's best trick would have to be either... "Turn Off The Light" or "Get Your Leash". Lassie's best trick is "Shake", he'll shake your hand or your foot. ;)

We already liked Zuke's on Facebook and followed them on Twitter in the past, does that count? ;)

And even though you can get our email address off our blog, we'll leave it here too: marquielynn AT mac DOT com

    Thank you, Nola!
Love that your Mom spelled out "Zuke's" with the treats! Too bad you didn't get to eat them all. Though, that would've been a lot to eat all in one go!

  46. I love Zukes, the mini's are my favorite cause I don't like a real big treat. They are just the right size for my mouth. Mommies favorite trick of mine is she says "who's the pretty girl?" and then I bark real nice and give her my paw.

  48. We use Zuke's training treats too! The dogs love them. I don't love the smell but I don't mind as long as the dogs snarf them!

  49. I think the mini's would be a bit small, so we will sit this one out but mom is also a collar and treat freak! WE always have a drawer full so we have plenty of variety and she is always looking for new and different treats and we have so many different collars as she just loves to keep us in different fun collars all the time. Have a pawsome day! Emma
