The Beach Trip!

Hi everyone! On Saturday, Mom took me to the beach and I had a blast! We went to Mexico Beach, which is a lovely beach about 20 minutes from home that's dog friendly on one side (oddly enough, the dog friendly side is MUCH nicer).
I was nearly perfectly behaved! I didn't bark (I went through fazes at 4,5,7,9 and 14 months where I barked at everything), was very good around two other (off leash, out of their owners' control, much bigger) dogs, did perfect on stays, wait, sit, down and most importantly come. I got to be off leash 90% of the time, and Mom even called me off chasing some birds.

Dachshund Mommy: Nola did incredible, I'm glowing with pride.
Since she enjoys training and learning so much, I'm going to really crack down on her training and continued socialization and hopefully she will take and pass her Canine Good Citizen Test next year!

Here are some of the (nearly 2,000) pictures Mom took while we were at the beach. Enjoy!
Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola
P.S. Let me know if you'd like to read a post on what Mom does with my training, I've been debating doing one for a while now.

Practicing "stay" in a distracting environment

Practicing "sit" in abnormal places

I love the beach!

All four feet off the ground! Lookout, greyhounds!

I'm cute.

I'll save you, Momma!

Pure joy

"OMD ITS GONNA GET ME!!!!!!"

"Nola, come!"

I love sunshine

This is a mean crab.

I REALLY wanted it when it went back in the water

I look like an otter

Chasing birds

"Hang on! I'll get you"

Can we take this home?

Lovely day

Pawsome job girlfriend on the nearly pawfect listening skills. Yes, we would love to read all about your training. OK, Mommy said that NOT me! Mommy said I need to brush up on my skills a bit. Hey, I did drop the squirrel when she screamed, what more does she expect....

We love your smile in the "I love the beach" picture! Mommy wants to know if she can print that one out to hang on our wall with my other furends pictures. After all, you ARE my BFF! I would love to have your smiling face looking at us all of the time. Butt, we have to get permissions according to my Mommy.

We're so glad you had an pawsome beach day!

  6. You look like a baby seal in the water. And how brave you are going into all that water and swimming too (I mean since you're not very big). I know you will be the best trained of dogs.

  9. Yes, please, Dachshund Mommy, please do some posts on the pawsome training. Several posts.

    Love the beach photos, Nola!

(Dachshund Mommy: I hope it is okay that I used Dachshund Daddy in your honor on my blog... you gave me the idea because of your fabulous Dachshund Mommy notes.)

  11. What a fantastic day, that looks like a very nice beach. Where do you get the white sand from, shouldn't it be filthy brown like ours?

  13. What a super trip to the beach you had, Nola!!! Mom says we could never be trusted off leash there, but we sure would love to run in the sand and water. We are always open to new training ideas, so yes, by all means, do share.

  15. Oh, Nola, you are just about the cutest pup EVER!! Ma would NEVER trust me being off leash, because I get waaaay to distracted and have bad 'recall'. You, my friend, are a star!

  18. What an awesome time you had. There's no way we'd be listening to anything SHE said if we were at the beach.

We're really impressed because our doxie friend Millie doesn't listen to anyone!

  35. Oh Nola, I am so jealous of your day at the beach! Marley has never been that I know of. His closest trip to a beach was the lake at 13000 feet. But I love nothing more than to romp and play along the shore when I am home in FL. We LOVE the photo essay on your day. Great shots!!
