What the DUCK?! And Last Days of the Photo Challenge

Hi everyone! Before I tell ya'll about the craziness that happened yesterday, here's the last two days of the June Photo A Day Challenge. Mom's taking this month's challenge as well, and they'll be posted on Fridays. Which of these is your favorite?
Day 29: Soft
Dachshund Mommy: Nola has the softest ears ever

Day 30: A friend

On to the crazy! Guess what the peeps came home with yesterday. Just guess. Okay, maybe my post title gives it away, but they brought home THREE FREAKING DUCKS!!!!! Ducklings to be exact. And, get this, they refuse to let me eat them, I bet they're tasty  go near them! An another thing, those little duckers get their own kiddie pool! NOT fair I tell you! Not fair at all!
I guess I should tell you a bit more about them. They're a few weeks old, they were free (only reason we got them BOL), and their breed is a Swedish Blue. We can't tell if they're boys or girls yet. But if they grow up to be girls I'll have some tasty duck eggs for snacks! Since we don't know the genders yet, they don't have names.
We've got a veritable Noah's  Nola's Ark going on here! Now all the birds we have:
1 Cockatiel
14 Chickens (might be getting more soon)
3 Ducks.
Oy Vey.
Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola
Ugly little ducks aren't they

  1. Hey Nola!
Wow, not just every pooch gets her very own ark! They might be a pain (and yes, tasty) but I bet they look up to you as a role model. Like a big sis. Anyway, great pool and they actually are kinda cute. I wouldn't go swimmie in their pool though...they probably go poop in there! BWAR HAR HAR.
BTW: Love your patriotic background in the header pix!

  6. I like the "soft" picture best. I love the artsy-ness of the "dog part" shots :) I am also jealous of your ducks! I grew up on an urban farm and we always had duckies and chicks. I miss that.

  7. I bet those little critters drive you mad!!!! Do you fight the urge to 'play' with them? :) I love the second photo. I love the depth of field going on there- especially with the lights in the background.

  9. First Nola, let me say, we love your 4th of July header! You wear the red, white & blue well!

I think you should name one of the new ducks after Dachshund Mommmy ~ C-R-A-Z-Y! Has your Mom gone and flipped her cotton pickin' lid? Stop what you're doing - right now - and call the VET for her! I think maybe she has sun stroke or something. And... to top it all off, they have their own pool? I'm telling you Nola, if you don't call quickly, the men in the white coat's just may be stopping by the house to pay her a visit at lunch time today. If they come by, call us and you can stay with us :)

Ducks??? Do you have a lake nearby or will they always have the pool? We think scrambled duck eggs sound very good:)

  15. I cannot pick a favorite when there are only two pictures and they're both of Nola. The ducks are wonderful. Are they for eggs or eating or are they just for fun.

  16. OMD! Duckies? Well, I say you show them who runs the joint. At least take over the pool for awhile! Nola needs a cool-down, too!
So, I have to say both pics are beautiful, but I pick...the second pic shows off your tender side.

  19. Nola's Ark... they should be 2 x 2 right? Or maybe your family is thinking that it's 1 family of ducks and they need to get another FAMILY of ducks to be 2 x 2 :)

Wow... I love your ears, too.... :) I understand, at times, Cruella DeVille's love of dog furs... but wouldn't wear ears as a coat... never.
