My Not So Secret Garden

Hi everyone! It is officially miserable out. 91 degrees on the second day of April!

I plopped down on my walk yesterday and made Mom carry me home. But on the bright side, now that it's so dog damn hot warm and sunny out, I get my favorite snack ever when we get home: pineapple! LOVE that stuff, so good.

nom nom nom
The heat's killing some of our MY garden, like the peas and carrots, but the rest of it's thriving! We currently have: radishes, carrots, peas, basil, oregano, celery, lettuce (both of those inside), tomatoes and strawberries. It's not a huge garden, maybe one 10 foot row of peas and one of carrots and radishes, everything else is on our back patio or inside. Peas are so tasty, I eat the whole thing, pod and all!
Our tomato plants are already massive, we got them at Lowes when they were teeny tiny now they're way bigger then me. Mom won't let me near them anymore because I try to eat them.

Pee. S. Mom's oral surgeon appointment went great, she has no swelling and no infection and is healing fast. Her jaw still hurts a little bit, mostly in the morning and at night, but she feels much better. She gets the other 2 teeth out on the 12th.
Some peas and a radish

Yummy!

L to R: Strawberries, tomato, basil, oregano, tomato

Secret to fast growing veggies? Chicken poop.

Look at that bird

Ooohh tomatoes!

You had one, why can't I?

Can you see the little inch wormie on the lily?

So little, so yummy, not done yet

  14. Beautiful pic's as always Nola! Mom is doing great with the camera. Your garden is wonderful. We've been picking Basil for a long time now and Mom makes the bestest pesto (or so I've been told.)

Can you believe this weather? I love the warmth and the sun, but FORGET THIS! Today our van thermometer said 92. Ugh! Gotta tell Mommy it may be time to set up the luxury spa again in the back yard.

  16. It's hotter than Hades here in Central Florida too. Mom hasn't tried to plant anything yet. Still too busy with her spring cleaning. Blah!

  17. We love your garden! Do you get to share the crops with your humans? Does mom use any in your meal preparations?

We woke up to snow this morning...although 91 IS too hot, 31 in April in Albuquerque is too cold. Maybe Mother Nature could send us both something in between?

  20. Beautiful, Nola! Lady is trying to grow lettuce again this year as it is not available locally. She's also trying to grow red and yellow capsicum but they haven't germinated yet. She bought some new flowers on the side of the road -no nurseries around here.

  24. Wow - your garden is lovely - and impressive! And way ahead of us. (We had snow flurries here Saturday morning and a hard frost on Sunday even though it's up in the 60's today...)

You've definitely got me looking forward to getting a few things in the ground soon though. Maybe by month end...

  25. Our Mommy is jealous. She wants your garden. She used to garden but now she can't get off the ground so we just got weeds. I'll come help you harvest and help you eat them peas.
