Dog Park, Pizza and An Unpleasant Surprise

Hi everyone! I had a busy day today. First the humans took me to the dog park. There was only one other (un neutered) dog there and he was mean and snapped at me while his lazy owner did nothing.

Then we got pizza!

That was yummy!
Then when we got home Mom and Sugar took me and Auggie on a walk.
But towards the end of our walk we passed this house where a big golden retriever lives and he was outside (off leash) with his family. As we walked by he charged us! Mom snatched me up but Sugar didn't have time to grab Auggie before the dog was on us, teeth bared and growling. Poor Auggie circled Sugar's legs squealing like a pig. It took quite a while for the man to control his dog, and all we got was a grunted ''sorry"! This wasn't a onetime thing either, this dog as gone after kids. Auggie and I are traumatized!
After that terrible experience I got a bath

  1. Oh Nola, I'm so sorry. We're reading more and more about people who can't (or won't) control their dogs. I worry about Bella (so scared I'm afraid more aggressive dogs will sense her 'weakness') but oh so much more about you little ones! I'm glad you're all okay but you shouldn't have to be afraid to go for walks. :(

(FTR, we don't go to dog parks any more - I worry too much.)

  4. You had to have a BATH after all that trauma????!!!

You have to wonder what happens to make a dog mean like that.

  5. Everything was going perfect.... until the encounter with that mean doggie, right?

  6. We have a neighbor next door who doesn't hold onto his dogs leash either, it makes mom soooo mad!! She's even called animal control but they couldn't do anything because he hooks his leash on but never holds it so he can say that he "accidently dropped it." Bad dog owners make me so mad. I hope Auggie is okay, did he have to get a bath too??

  8. Poor Nola, we had a Pug attack Eleanor at a dog park when she was 1 and she's still nervous around dogs that size. The owners said "Oh, he thought she was a chew toy". Jerks.

    That pizza looks delicious though!

  9. Isn't is sad how the minority of dog owners make the majority look bad. I'm sorry you had to have a BATH after the mean dog in the dog park and then the loose retriever incident!

  12. Aww sorry you guys had to go through that! I really don't like when people think its okay to let their off leash dog run up to other dogs they don't know. This has happened many times when we're walking and Yuki freaks out!

  13. At least nothing happened to you guys. I'm glad you're both alright... pizza... sounds delish... maybe I should get one...

Some owners are not just good at controlling their pet's actions.

  14. How scary! People need to realise the importance of keeping their dogs on leash, or at least have some form of control over them. It could have gotten really ugly.
Whisky got bitten by a dog before. Fortunately, I was able to scoop her up quickly so the bite just bruised her skin. Even so, she (and I) were very traumatised by the whole event.

  16. Nola, we are so sorry about that attack, those are very irresponsible dog owners. If they know their dog has issues, then they need to be taking steps to get him under control, and at the very least, making sure he is on leash. We hope Auggie is OK.

Yummy looking pizza - hope you got extra pieces for that traumatic experience.

  18. A bath after almost gettin' kilt. That just doesn't seem right. Looks like there were some good things though...pizza and soda or "pop" as we say here.

  19. Your day started out soooooo good and then POOF.. it went to squirrels in a hurry. Attacked and then a BAFF? Not a good end to ANY day.

  20. What a terrible day. Thank goodness for pizza, though. That has happened way too many times to us, too. Mom gets really mad that some people are so unaware of what problems can come of that.

    Glad y'all are o.k.

  21. Sorry to hear about your encounter with the mean big dog.
The pizza you had looks so yummy...did you really get to eat it!? My human parents keep me on a really strict diet, so I'm very jealous!

    Keep on wagging!

  22. Mean dogs are scary, but it is usually their peeps fault. Pizza looks yummy.

  24. It really peeves me when some folks think their pet is okay off leash. Those are the poochies that haven't been fully trained for off leash time and scare those of us with out poochies to death. Especially when you are walking with more than one dog! So very sorry for the fright!!!!

If only those folks would "get it"...
